Actor Jesse Eisenberg, known for his roles in films like The Social Network and Now You See Me, has taken an inspiring step. He has revealed that he will donate one of his kidneys to a stranger, an altruistic act he calls “a simple decision.”
In an interview with the Today show, the actor said:
“Actually, I’m going to donate my kidney in six weeks… it’s an altruistic donation. I’m very excited to do this,” the famous actor said.
Eisenberg explained that altruistic donation means giving an organ to a person you don’t know, simply to help them survive. He stressed that the process is “essentially risk-free and necessary” and that many people don’t realize how much of a life-changing gesture it can be.
“I think people will understand that it’s a simple decision, if you have the time and desire to make it,” he added.
According to HRSA data, there are about 90,000 people in the United States waiting for a kidney transplant, which makes the actor’s act even more significant.
